Train Paintings
What I love most about trains is their complex surfaces — rusty, with layers of peeling paint, letters and numbers, often a topmost layer of graffiti. They are enticing visually, and I never tire of painting them. Trains’ geometrics also appeal to me, especially viewed straight on or sideways. They are as close as you can get to abstraction, but are real. And they are magic. There is an unexplainable exoticism about trains. Here is a selection of some of my train paintings.
(All paintings are oil on panel and, unless otherwise noted, are unframed.
They are edge-painted and framing is unnecessary.)
