Plein Air Series Paintings
"Plein air" paintings are those done on site, in the "open air." The plein air painting process is entirely different from studio painting, but what I learn from the experience informs all that I do. Quite frankly, there is nothing more exhilarating than being outside, alone, with nothing but paints and a canvas between you and Mother Nature.
Plein air paintings are usually smaller. (It is difficult to finish a large painting on site, given the time constraints created by changing light conditions, etc.)
The paintings shown may be purchased from the artist directly using the Buy Now button unless marked Sold. The medium for all is oil on panel. Each work sports either a black or natural wood shadowbox frame. Those asterisked may be purchased by contacting The Red Door Inn in St. Helena, CA.
